Leading Out Loud: Why I’m Launching a Podcast for Bold, People-First Leadership in Education
Tomorrow, something big is hitting the airwaves.
After months of behind-the-scenes planning, recording, re-recording, laughing, learning, and (let’s be honest) Googling how to set up podcast distribution, I’m thrilled to officially announce the launch of my new podcast: Leading Out Loud with Dr. Chantell Manahan!
It’s real. It’s ready. And it’s made for you, education leaders, aspiring change-makers, and anyone who believes in the power of voice, story, and systems that center people.
So… Why a Podcast?
Let me tell you a secret. I didn’t start this podcast because I wanted to hear myself talk.
(Okay, maybe just a little. I did get a really fun microphone.)
The truth is, over the past few years, I’ve had the honor of working alongside some of the most incredible leaders in education: CTOs, superintendents, instructional coaches, data stewards, classroom rockstars, and EdTech innovators. Their stories have shaped me. Their questions have challenged me. And their bold ideas have fueled my fire.
But too often, the real work, the messy middle where leadership actually happens, stays behind the scenes. Leading Out Loud is my answer to that.
This podcast is about pulling back the curtain and making the invisible visible. We’re diving into the practical, the powerful, and yes, even the funny side of what it really means to lead well in schools today.
What You Can Expect from Leading Out Loud
Authentic Voices
No buzzword bingo here. Each episode features down-to-earth conversations with leaders who are walking the walk. You’ll hear from district offices, product design tables, and classrooms making magic with limited bandwidth and big dreams.
Bold Ideas
We’re talking about innovation with integrity. Change that actually sticks. Tech that serves people. Systems that support humans. This isn’t about chasing shiny objects; it’s about real solutions for real schools.
Real Impact
Every episode will leave you with something to chew on, a story, a strategy, or a spark. I believe in leadership that ripples. And I believe you’re already making waves.
The First Episodes Are 🔥
We’re kicking things off with a launch week lineup that makes my heart sing:
🎧 Episode 0: Why I’m Leading Out Loud A short solo kickoff from yours truly. I’ll share why this podcast exists, how it connects to my journey from rural French teacher to CTO, and why your voice matters more than ever.
🎧 Episode 1: A Leader’s Mindset for Disruption
Guest: Matt Miller, author of Ditch That Textbook
Matt and I reflect on the moment our professional paths crossed, which sparked something that changed my journey. We also cover breaking free from the education status quo, positive disruption, and the way AI is disrupting education currently.
🎧 Episode 2: From Firewalls to Faculty
Guest: Bill Stein, Director of Technology and Cyber Shorts Creator
We talk about storytelling as a security tool, leading culture change through humor, and why cybersecurity is a people problem, not just a tech one.
🎧 Episode 3: Walking Both Worlds
Guest: Dr. Barbara Nesbitt, VP of Product at ClassLink and retired Assistant Superintendent for Technology Services
We explore what happens when a leader brings classroom and district leadership experience into the edtech space and what product teams can learn from district trenches.
And that’s just the beginning.
Who This Podcast Is For
If you’re a superintendent making tough calls
If you’re a teacher-leader wondering where your voice fits
If you’re a district CTO trying to balance strategy, systems, and staff well-being
If you work for an EdTech company and want to understand schools more deeply
If you care about students but are also carrying the weight of systems not built for humans
This podcast is for you.
You don’t have to have it all figured out. You just have to care enough to show up, listen, and maybe say something out loud that someone else needed to hear.
Behind the Mic: A Little Personal Reflection
Launching this podcast has stretched me in every direction. I’ve learned more about audio editing, mic placement, and podcast platforms than I ever expected. But more importantly, I’ve learned how powerful it is to make space for conversations that matter.
It’s about amplifying voices that often go unheard. It’s about celebrating the good work that’s happening every day in schools and calling us to dream even bigger.
And let’s be honest: it’s also about giving myself permission to laugh a little more, embrace the bloopers, and let leadership be human.
Let’s Launch Together
If any of this resonates with you, I’d love your support for the launch:

And if you’re the kind of leader who’s dreaming out loud too, I hope you’ll reach out. You might be a guest!
In Case No One Told You Today…
Your leadership matters. Your ideas are needed. And your voice deserves to be heard. Let’s lead out loud—together.
